Mixed media paintings: Japanese paper collage and acrylic paint.
I wanted to paint a series of three birds that would be a statement piece on a wall when displayed together. The cardinal, waxwing and blue jay are some of my favourite birds we have in our backyard here in Ontario. The waxwing can often be observed hanging upside down while eating berries on thinner branches, which make them look like a free spirited bird. For this reason I decided to name the series: Be Yourself.
