Mixed media painting: Japanese paper collage and acrylic paint.
This great blue heron is inspired by the one I saw on Toronto Island. I have always had to sneak or paddle quietly to get remotely close to a blue heron, and have never really been successful. They are normally very timid, but not this one. This heron was on the lookout for a meal, on a large fallen tree, on Toronto Island. He was in a corridor of kayakers; most of which didn't notice its presence even though they were paddling feet away from it. So we sat down, watched it for 15 minutes, and carried on with our stroll. One of those peaceful moments in a slightly chaotic setting.
